Hi.

My name is Avinash Meetoo and I live in Mauritius. When I was a kid, I was a computer geek and, when I grew up, I found it natural to study Computer Science (or, more precisely, Informatics).

I am currently Head of Experimentation Accelerator Labs at United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Mauritius & Seychelles. As part of a network operating in 116 countries, UNDP Mauritius & Seychelles is setting up an Accelerator Lab to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. As Head of Experimentation, I am responsible for creating multi-stakeholder solutions to address complex problems using innovation, technology, strategic-thinking and leadership.

In the past, I was Senior Adviser at the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation, Board member of the National Computer Board and the University of Technology. Prior to that, I created Knowledge7, an IT training and consulting company. Before becoming an entrepreneur, I was a lecturer in Computer Science at Supinfo, the University of Mauritius and the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry. I started my career as a consultant for DCDM Consulting.

I am a fan of Linux and Open Source Software and I founded the Linux User Group of Mauritius in 2000. My laptop runs Fedora Linux and it rocks. I also like Apple computers and I have an iMac for photography and music. I love my OnePlus 7T smartphone.

I like to blog and program. I have composed and released three albums of electronic music. I like photography too.

I am married to a wonderful Christina and we have two very interesting and cool kids: Anya and Kyan.
